Just to let you know, I have just pushed these changes to the gtk-2-22 branch. I'd suggest that focus should now be on fixing the remaining issue in that branch. That would mean that at least the GTK+ 2.22 release has a reasonably well working DirectFB backend. If we can get that done and, more importantly, if we can find someone to step up as a maintainer for the DirectFB backend, then we might very well be able to persuade the GTK+ development team to resurrect the DirectFB backend for GTK+ 3.0.
