No. Currently the X server knows nothing about the transparency; it's all
handled by DirectFB itself. However, included in the XDirectFB directory is
a patch for a translucency extension to X, which would allow the setting and
reading of translucency from within X programs. I haven't used it, but
theoretically if someone worked on it I think session managers could
remember the translucency settings.
