Hi all,

Someone mentioned before that we can ignore the framebuffer kernel patch from
nsc for 2.4.17, and use the nsc driver provided by directfb starting from 0.9.18
instead. I wonder how I can enable that driver as I found my mplayer is only
using the fbdev primary layer but not the geode driver.

I enabled framebuffer support and vesa fb in my kernel (2.4.21), and added
vga=0x311 and video=vesa:ypan. When it boots, the penguin logo appears which
verifies that the vesa fb driver is working. I also installed directfb 0.9.19,
with nsc geode automatically configured and made. But then how can I enable this
nsc driver instead of the vesa one?

After compiling directfb, there are nsc.o and nsc_galfns.o created under
dfb/gfxdrivers/nsc. They don't seem like kernel modules, and I think they were
linked to become libdirectfb_nsc.so and .la installed in
/usr/lib/directfb-0.9.19/gfxdirvers. How can I make use of this library? All I
want is to evaluate the hardware acceleration performance of my sc1200 when
playing back movies using mplayer.

Thanks!

Selwyn
