Hi,

I'm trying to get a kernel compiled so that it would work for both a
matrox g400 and a g550 to do tv/out.

Following Ville's HOWTO, with a stock linux 2.4.20 kernel (with only the
mentioned patches), and the matrox g550 stuff compiled in, it works
fine, with output to TV. Stuff like mplayer works fine as well.

When changing it to be modular in the kernel config, I get a few
matroxfb_* modules. I can't get df_knuckles to work anymore. It fails
with
(!) DirectFB/Core/layers: Failed to initialize layer 0!
(!) DirectFB/Core: Could not initialize 'layers' core!
    --> General initialization failure!
(!) DirectFB/Core: Error during initialization (General initialization
failure!)(#) DirectFBError [DirectFBCreate failed]: General
initialization failure!

I get the same errors with and without all these matroxfb_* modules
loaded.

Is it at all possible to make this work when compiled as a module, and
if so, how ?

Thanks
Thomas
