When I run df_xine, I got the message" couldn't open video driver 'DFB'; have you

Some posts on the mailing list were also about this very same problem; but I
did not find the answer. It was suggested that the symbol was undefined:

"xineplug_vo_out_dfb.so failed to load
       -> /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/xineplug_vo_out_dfb.so: undefined"

I have gcc version 3.4.2. Does this make the difference? I am running a Fedora
Core 3 with Linux kernel version 2.6.10.

I'm not sure about this error, did you install the xine video provider from DirectFB-extra and its complaining about something undefined in the xine directfb output plugin? Or is it not installed, complaining that it isn't there? If its the first one then I seem to remember a problem a while ago affecting gentoo linux and it was fixed in CVS. Otherwise, I have no idea what's wrong in your situation.

Hi,

you might have done everything right, this reminds me of a problem I had, the same error and there was really nothing that helped me, but reinstalling my gentoo with more stable development tools. It might have been the compiler or something else, but I learned ever since, not to go with bleeding edge development tools versions...

See for reference the [directfb-dev] thread "df_xine couldn't open video driver 'DFB'"

Rob: Are you refering to that? Is there actually a fix for this?

Lucian
