Hi Pedro

Thanks for the advice.  I was going to use the latest stable releases
rather than those from the git repository.

I already have a compiling machine set up on which I installed
Glibc-2.3.4.  It was some time ago that I built it but it hasn't let me
down yet.  I'll give it a try.
