I've been wondering about why dirvish calls rsync with --delete. Dirvish usually ensures that its target tree is empty before starting rsync (to the extent of removing the tree after a failed transfer before trying again), so --delete should not be needed. It's probably down to paranoia...
I'd suggest removing it. I'm going to try without --delete on my systems for a while to see if anything bad happens. Any comments or thoughts on the matter?
