Well, because the "feature" that you reply to the author *only* is the most error prone feature I know... This time I had to type the address - and again you can see that humans make mistakes - did use the wrong one. My idea of technology is to avoid such mistakes. This is why I would prefer that a simple Reply goes to the list I received the mail from...
