Menus work fine under unity so GNUstep/kwin seems to be a bad

I don't think that kwin is the issue here. I am using kwin as my main
window manager myself. (For no particular reason, KDE is just the best
supported environment on OpenSuse)
And if I would notice such a delay on my system, I would work hard to
fix it.
