Fully agreed. forcing FHS layout and disgregating App Bundles into various directory is dumb and done only for ideological uses with no practical purpose. Yet if every application is managed by apt, it is still fine for the end-user. The mess starts if one wants to install something without it.

So thanks for Paul publishing a "debian compatible" packages, despite criticisms everybody has about  layout, runtime or whatever. It is convenient.

I too think of a native packaging system,  but lots of open question s about it, so  it remains there.
