I just received a renewal notice from Network Solutions for one of the
domain names I own.

The domain name is currently registered with OpenSRS.

The renewal notice is for the period 8/25/2000-8/25/2001. My domain
currently expires on 8/24/2001.

It plainly states on the renewal notice that the fee is non-refundable.

I wonder what happens if somebody receives one of these notices and pays
Network Solutions withour realizing that they do not owe for this
invoice.

Is the domain name then transferred back to Network Solutions? They
make it clear that they will not refund the fee, yet they are only
offering to extent the current registration period by one day if I
renewed with them.

I realize this is an error on their part, but wonder how many sent in
the money when they receive this notice. I understand that this has
been brought to their attention, but they must be receiving a return
from this practice or they would not continue to send these notices.
