Is it really so difficult to create an search and replace SQL query ;) ?
That's all we need.

Select domain -> Modify contact -> Apply changes to other domains (where
contact was exactly the same)

My guess is that OpenSRS's database is not completely relational. If they
would have implemented a handle like system (having separate contact entries
in the DB), this whole issue wouldn't have happened.

Some of us warned OpenSRS publically about this issue. OpenSRS's answer was:
we are currently working on a new release of the client/server code that
will introduce handles to the RSP interface. We all were happy, but I
haven't seen this yet, and by reading Scott's e-mail, I am afraid that they
are not working on it (anymore).
The longer they wait, they harder it will become to convert their current
database to a handle based database any time in the future....

Just my $0.02
