Actually that is not true.  whois.internic.net is the
"standard" WHOIS.  It is always the registry WHOIS.

Network Solutions Registrar WHOIS is at whois.networksolutions.com

If people are querying WHOIS without thinking, they should be hitting
internic.net and there won't be a problem...
