Hi, I know this was thrashed out a bit a few weeks ago, but I think it petered
out more than anything.
I want to suggest a feature for the management of domains on
manage.opensrs.org, and the client script, manage.cgi.
On each of the section pages, e.g. admin, billing, nameserver,
Another function should be introduced as follows:
Put a radio select with the following three options:
1) Apply change to this domain only (SELECTED BY DEFAULT)
2) Apply this change to all domains in my profile
3) Apply this change to selected domains in my profile
If radio 1 is selected, when the form is submitted, things proceed as they
currently do, no change.
If radio 2 is selected, when the form is submitted, a list of all domains in
the profile, each with a checkbox checked, is presented.
The user may then deselect any that do not require the same change, and press
submit.
The change is then applied to each selected domain.
If radio 3 is selected, when the form is submitted, the same as above occurs,
except the only domain to be checked by default is the current domain being
edited. Extra domains can be checked, and submitted as above.
This is a solution to the problem where somebody wanted to change the tech
details for all domains registered through them, and where somebody needed to
change a lot of nameservers.
It addresses the issues raised then about other solutions, specifically where
a domain owner doesn't want their ISP to interfere without the owners consent.
Since this is profile based, the permission is already there.
This solution won't be of use to somebody who assigns a simgle profile for
each domain, and does not have any common profiles, but it should help
everyone else.
