Not a dumb question...   Initially, when you move from Horizon onto the live system (when you're first set up on the live system after completing RITE testing), they'll have the same private key.  But from that point on, the two are independent of each other.  A new key generated on the test system applies only to the test system.  Likewise, a new key generated on the live system applies on to the live system.
