I don't think I'd blame IE...I use IE exclusively and frequently change
Private Keys with no problems by cutting-n-pasting out of it.

BUT, you're absolutely right, Tom, that because of the length of the Private
Key it's VERY EASY to mangle it when copying it from the web page into your
scripts. Matthew, this should be your first step.

ALSO, check your scripts to verify which system you're logging in to
(horizon.opensrs.net is the test bed) and be certain that THAT'S the system
you generate your private key on.

One other thought: The appropriate version of CBC is included with OpenSRS.
It's possible that your installation is using your own CBC rather than the
one that's included with OpenSRS. I'm not a Linux guru, but check paths and
that kind of stuff (you may be able to tell from the verify_install.cgi
script which one it's hitting).

Generate a new key and copy and paste it using Netscape and not IE... I had
a problem like this, called Tech Suppport and they fixed me up in a jiffy.
Something about copy and paste not working quite right in IE.... the PRIVATE
KEY gets mangled.

Tom.

Hey All,

    I have been banging my head against the wall with this one for several
days now. I have installed the opensrs client, all of the required
libraries, generated the private key on resellers-test and keyed it in by
hand. Still getting the following screen when I run the verify script:

Operating System : Linux xxxxxxx 2.2.12-20
 #1 Mon Sep 27 10:07:24 EDT 1999 i586 unknown
Perl compiled for : linux (i586-linux)
Client Version                : XML:pre0.1
Server Hostname               : horizon.opensrs.net
Server Port                   : 55000
Reseller Username             : xxxxxxxx
Private Key Length            : 111
Encryption method             : Blowfish
Checking for Digest::MD5      : OK (version 2.12)
Checking for Crypt::DES       : OK
Checking for Crypt::Blowfish  : OK (version 2.06)
Checking for Crypt::CBC       : OK (version 1.25)
Checking for XML::Parser      : OK (version 2.30)
Logging in to OpenSRS server : ERROR: Unable to login to server:
Authentication
 failed

I have been wondering if my versions are incompatible and tried going back
to v 1.2 of cbc, but it seems blowfish and cbc require v1.22.... PLEASE
HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am not a perl expert, but I don't usually have this kind
of brick wall.... My perl version is 5.6.0, running on a redhat
distribution, if that helps.

Thanks,
Matthew Schick
