One person clicking on their link would have little impact,
I agree.  But many people clicking on it every day would
have to cost them.

Even if we just rung up a few thousand dollars a month, it
would be significant, since they'd get 0 conversions out of
it.  They'd have to sell alot more to make up for it.

Let's face it... its their marketing that gives them the
advantage and not the price/quality of their product.  But
if we can reduce the cost-effectiveness of that marketing,
then its a good thing.
