Leave it to the democrats to complain about lack of competition and
then try and block something that will help bring competition.

It's too bad they fell for the IOD rhetoric, ignoring that the Afilias
bylaws specifically forbid Verisign or any other registrars from
owning more than 11% of the company, and in fact own much less than
that level, but specifically forbid any entity from more than 11%
ownership (such as their acquisition or merger).  This is just one of
several problems with the IOD rhetoric, the many errors of omission in
their criticism of the Afilias application.
