Sorry, No. There is no way to change the 7 day timeout.
I would suggest that if the Domain owner isn't prepared to answer the Email,
they should not submit the transfer.
I am also wondering why they need a consultant to click on a link and copy and
paste :)

For instance today I've got a client who is working with their consultant.
He's due there today and would have helped them ack the transfer requests. The
reg system timed them out last night so now I've got to resubmitt them again. >
