This is why it is always nice to only sell domains to those people whose
legs you can personally break for failure to pay.
I'll pipe in my $0.02 worth that, if an RSP is stiffed for payment, they
deserve the ability to reclaim the domain, if only to attempt to recoup
their loss and prevent someone from actually getting the full term out of
the domain. Should they have a means of getting money back from SRS? No,
because SRS cannot get their money back from NSI (at least I don't think
they can). At least if the RSP can claim ownership (sorta like a lien of
some sort), then they can try to sell it on the open market so as not to
operate at a loss).
Enterprising individuals could even set up as a "used-domain broker",
buying domains from RSP's or other-registrar resellers for half what they
paid for them, on the speculation that they can get money back out of them
(a la collections firms buying debt, hoping to make money on it)
