Not much can be done when you are competing with Registrars who are
registering domain names at a loss to build future revenues, except do the
same thing yourself.

Whether you are paying $10, $8 or $7 you can not compete with Registrar who
is offering the public $6.

We use cheap domain name registration as another way to advertise our
hosting sites.  We have found that a large percentage of those who register
domain names end up hosting with us.  Except domain name resellers, or
course.  And we discouraged them by disabling the mass register section of
the script so they must register one domain at a time and by suggesting that
they register directly with OpenSRS as RSPs.  We were quite happy to lose
the $2 we made from them on each domain, as it costs more than $2 to process
an order.
