Why did he call them?  That was a waste of time.  That was unnecessary and
99% of the time NSI phone staff don't even know what they are talking
about anyway.

You request a registrar transfer at the gaining registrar (in this case
OpenSRS).  You never contact the losing registrar.  So forget about the
call to NSI and just submit a registrar transfer request.
