That's right.
You should not subject thieves who steal by collecting fees just prior to
filing for bankruptcy to the same type of treatment they gave their clients.
After, the thief has all the rights, not the victim.
How in the hell do you equate registering an abandon domain name with stolen
property?
Frankly, he should not sell or trade the domain name back to them.
He should immediately host a web site using the domain name, laying out the
facts that the company is a bunch of thieves that used bankruptcy
proceedings to screw their clients.

You should throw a brick through the window and grab a couple of pieces of
gym equipment, too. Then you can use that stolen property to blackmail
them with as well. And maybe some stuff from the owner's house, or just
kidnap his wife.
