Subject: alternatives for intelligent name searching

Hey all,

I was wondering if anybody knew any alternative to the intelligent
domain searching solutions like Oingo's DomainSense or NameBrain.

I had asked about DomainSense before (which I thought was too expensive),
and someone suggested namebrain. I was ready to go with namebrain, but
their lack of response to my communications is making me re-consider.

The problem with DomainSense, is that its pricey (pay-per-query), isn't
a local database (so not much speed advantage) AND they insist on you
placing their logo on your site. Namebrain's (www.namebrain.com) has
a cheaper solution - with the db on your server (takes a gig, but means
fast searches), but its suggestions for alternative names isn't as
good as DomainSense.

Anyway - that's my wrap on the two services - but it'd be nice if I
knew of any other alternatives. Tucows said they were looking at some
themselves... perhaps they could pass them on :)

It's hard to find companies offering this sort of service... whatever
I search for - I just get a bunch of registrars.

Thanks,
Kirk Fletcher.

BTW, If you haven't seen the above services, here's thew info for each:
