.info Questions and Answers
Does the recently released RCL and RWI for .info allow resellers to submit
pre-registrations for landrush?
No. This tool ONLY allows resellers to pre-register for the Sunrise Period
only. A landrush tool will be made available approximately July 1, 2001.
For the land rush period what will The bulk file format for .info land rush
submissions will be beyond: domain,username,password?
This is identical to what is currently required in the RWI for com/net/org.
Resellers will submit domain, username, password for bulk files IN ADDITION
to the contact info, billing info and technical contact info
Are there rebates for .info pre-registrations?
No, but there is no pre-registration fee for .info.
Is Tucows offering pre-registration as a lottery for info?
No, for pre-registration we operate as with any other domain name, first
come first served; so if we have an application for a name we will not
accept another for the same name. By having only one of each name in the
queue from Tucows we will be ensuring that we do not lose our place in the
queue because a name has already been selected. This ensures that we
maximize our resellers' chances of being awarded the domain name (realizing
that Tucows cannot impact the submissions from other registrars in the
queue). We then send a batch file to Afilias at the start of Sunrise.
How are resellers billed for this?
When resellers submit pre-registrations to Tucows, the appropriate money
will be placed on hold. For sunrise = $65
How come you aren't charging until the pre-registration application is
successful?
Unfortunately this is the mandate by the Afilias registry. Tucows, along
with other registrars are lobbying to change this to make it similar to
NeuLevel's extended credit period.
In the case of .info who may register during Sunrise period?
Owners of any current (non-expired) trademark or service mark registration
having national effect (including, for example, European Community
Trademarks (CTMs) but excluding United States state registrations) that
issued prior to October 2, 2000 will be eligible to register a domain name
that is identical to the textual or word elements of such trademark or
service mark, using ASCII characters only, and subject to the same character
and formatting restrictions as apply to all domain name registrations in the
Registry TLD.
Will the "unlimited tickets" be available to .INFO Domain pre-registrations
as well?
There are no 'tickets for .info. Tucows will be accepting only one
pre-registration per domain name.
