K...I am resending in text format...first biz, then info and then general
questions.

.biz Questions and Answers

Can registrants make more than one domain application for .biz domain
names?

Sure, .biz operates like a lottery so the more applications (tickets) you
buy the better your chances of winning; However, if an IP Claim is filed
against the domain in question, a 30 day hold will be put on the domain
beginning October 1, 2001 until the issue is resolved.

Is .biz available in the RCL?

No, it is only available in RWI as we Tucows has yet to receive specs from
Neulevel.

What do you mean by volume rebates for .biz applications?

"Rebate" refers to the discount you receive for selling certain volumes of
tickets (you are still billed the $3 up-front, but may receive credit as a
rebate if you sell a certain amount). If you sell the pre-determined
amounts of .biz applications in a month, you get a discount (for the
applications, not the registration) - and this discount is given to you by
way of a "rebate", i.e. extra credit added to your account.

What are the rebates for .biz?

 Rebated prices are:
For the first 5,000 Domain applications
                               $3.00/domain
5,000 - 15,000 applications:
$2.70/domain
>15,000 applications:
$2.30/domain

What if a .biz application is unsuccessful?

The .biz domain applications are NON-REFUNDABLE

What if a .biz application is successful?

If the domain application succeeds, resellers are billed for a minimum two
year registration fee

Are resellers required to pre-pay for domains when they submit
applications?

No. When the registry determines the successful domain applications
(approx. Oct 1, 2001) Tucows will then debit resellers automatically for
successful domain selections. If there are insufficient funds in the
reseller accounts, the domains will be placed 'on hold' until the reseller
submits the necessary funds to purchase the domain.

In appendix A of the .biz agreement, who is the registrar - the Reseller or
Tucows?

This came directly from the registry. Tucows is still considered the
registrar in this case. We have updated the contract and pre-filled to read
Tucows, Inc. so nothing needs to be filled in.

What is the maximum registration length?

 10 years.

End-users can register .BIZ IP claims direct from Neulevel for 90 USD; why
should we bother to offer them?

While NeuLevel is offering IP Claims, they are billing on behalf of
registrars, so users never actually see the NeuLevel charge. This was an
option offered to registrars by Neulevel.

Why is all order info erased when one field is entered in error for the IP
Claim?

Tucows is working on this problem and it should be fixed for shortly.

Are registrants required to file an IP Claim?

No, an IP Claim does not have to be filed and DOES NOT guarantee a
registrant the domain.

On the .biz IP claim form you indicate that application date and
international class are required for registered trademarks."
By "application date" do you mean the date that the papers were filed with
the trademark office or the date of registration?

 The date of registration.

The pre-registration for .BIZ overlaps with the IP claim phase. So, how
are people who apply for domains on, say June 5th, going to acknowledge an
IP claim entered on say, July 5th?
Actual Domain selection does not occur until the Domain Selection phase,
which is well after the IP Claim Service closes. The purpose of the IP
Claim Service is to notify trademark holders of possible infringement.
Registrants are at the risk of losing their non-refundable application fee
if this should happen.

During the Domain Name Application Period for .biz, what documents / proofs
of rights do registrants have to have to prove their claim to a domain? (or
to avoid being successfully challenged by some other claimants)

Unless they or someone else has filed an IP claim against that name the
domain name selction is done randomly. There is no recourse outside of the
normal provisions of UDRP.
What do I put into the "Number of Tickets" field on the .biz
pre-registration form in the RWI?

The number of tickets is the number of applications/lottery tickets for the
domain name. A minimum of one ticket is required - and the maximum is the
available funds in a reseller account.
Where can I find my country's three letter code for .biz?

Tucows will make this available on the www.opensrs.org site this week.
Otherwise, you can currently find it at
http://www.un.org/Depts/unsd/methods/m49alpha.htm
What contracts do I need for .biz?

 The current contract available at:
http://www.opensrs.org/contracts/bcontracts.shtml

is valid for all phases of the .biz launch but you must bind clients to the
IP Claims Service as well. We have been updated the text to read .biz
RESELLER AGREEMENT...so it will, in fact enable resellers to sell for ALL
registration periods.
