This is not a short list.  It is _not_ uncommon in my experience for NSi 
to sit on a transfer request from another registrar for up to a week of 
time just to make certain that "when they get to it" the domain has then 
expired, thereby allowing them to deny the registrar transfer.

The only solution I have found is to start the registrar transfer process 
at least a month, sometimes more, before a domain is to expire.  And, 
then, track the progress _very_ closely so that you know immediately if 
there is a problem.

I have found the personnel at Tucows wonderful at helping during such 
situations, helping considerably in making it clear to NSi to "stop 
messing around".

Dealing with NSi in these situations, I have found, is completely 
useless.  As with _everything_ I have ever experienced with NSi directly, 
they are either horribly incompetent or exceedingly unethical.
