Well, I do not like the NSI policy of the second ACK request.
Nevertheless, apart from this, all of our transfers from back then
were successful. We had two denials in May or June because they were
just a few days overdue, that was the time when NSI started to NACK
any overdue domains automatically. Accept this as a learning curve.
So, we changed to transferring domains one or two months in advance.
We didn't have a single denial since then. F.i. we started ten
transfers on July 26, these were ACKed to OpenSRS by admin the same
day, requests from NSI came next afternoon (Friday afternoon), were
ACKED some hours later, "NSI Accepts Domain Name Transfer Request"
again came a day later, on Saturday. So, the whole thing took less
than three days.
You can blame NSI for a lot of things but if you play within their
rules it works.
As for the Friday afternoon timing, I tend to the conclusion that
they queue up all incoming requests during the week and send them out
Friday afternoon. Since they started the new policy we had about
three transfer "rushes" of more than ten domains, I cannot remember
the transfers which involved smaller numbers. If I remember it right
all of these were processed by NSI on a Friday afternoon while only
two of them were sent out on a Wednesday or Thursday and the other
one was sent earlier in the week or during the weekend and took a
considerable longer time for processing - well, until that famous
Friday afternoon ...
