Well, for a complete domain tracking system (like the one SnapNames offers) it
would be nice to be alerted of any WHOIS changes in the event of domain
hijackings. I worry that some of our customers may get fooled by one of those
fake invoices via snail mail that appear to be sent from Network Solutions. By
running a daily WHOIS and comparing against the previous day's record, changes
could be flagged and dealt with.

I agree. I usually like to start the process 2 months ahead of time, as many of
our customers have out-of-date email addresses on the Admin Contact that need
corrected before a smooth transfer can take place. I've seen Network Solutions
take 10 days and multiple FAXs to update an invalid email address.
