The OpenSRS API doesn't use http.
Probably what he was suggesting (and certainly what I was suggesting) is
that your robot connect to OpenSRS port 55000 and use the XCP protocol to
register domains. You could copy and paste the relevant lines from one of
the CGIs.
Include the libraries (as the CGIs do) and you'll find it's only about 20
lines of perl to do the OpenSRS part.

Sure, why not? I expect OpenSRS would do it the same way if they created
such a thing.
