It will fail. A) OpenSRS will not even send the request to the registry
until they receive a positive confirmation from the registry. B) NetSol
will block it because it's expired. C) NetSol will block it until they get
a positive confirmation from the registry.
Recourse? Pay netsol *WITH A CREDIT CARD*. No cheques, no money orders,
NOTHING else. Next, fax them and get the admin contact. Last, get the
domain transferred away from then to OpenSRS.
Now, you'll notice that the end date is one year... The year you paid NetSol
for has vanished. Contact them in writing, when they do not issue a refund
(And rest assured, they won't), then chargeback the credit card (That little
"Services paid for, not delivered" thing :), costs you no cash, just time,
screws NetSol out of their credit card company's comission and another
domain year's payment, and lastly, hurts NetSol's credit rating at the bank.
Eventually the bank will (god willing) raise NetSol's merchant rates.

AFAIK, you can't cancel it. Don't worry, it will die off soon enough, and
you'll get your money back. Contacting support@ may help, I really don't
know for sure one way or the other.
