Actually, you might want to reconsider....
I'll play devils advocate here...
Consider the guy a few years back who fell through a skylight trying to break into a house, then sued (and won) the homeowner for being injured on his property.
Or...
The guy who sliced his hands up on a booby-trap of razor blades taped to the back of a car stereo while attempting to steal it. He sued and won also.
Personally, I'm just banning IP's as I see them. Less work, less hassle, and just as effective.
Just a bit of food for thought.

Doubt this. They didn't need to query the server. I could just put up
a file /nobodyknowsthispath/whoami.xyz on my server which would erase
my local harddisk (by whatever means) if I query it. It's not my
problem if someone else queries this obviously not advertised file.
Not to mention your right for self-defense.
