Does the latest delay of the .BIZ live date affect when the non-duplicate .biz applications will be resolving and notified, or can we still expect that on the 23rd.
ST -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, October 18, 2001 4:08 PM Subject: OpenSRS Live Reseller Update Oct 18, 2001 Greetings - Please find following an update on OpenSRS. 1. Neulevel 'go live' announcement 2. Multilingual domain term extension 3. Auctioning of .INFO sunrise names 4. Verisign bug fix 1. Neulevel 'go live' announcement ------------------- NeuLevel has informed us that the .biz registry will not go live on October 23, 2001 as previously scheduled. The new go-live date is: Wednesday, November 7 at 00:00:01 EST Wednesday, November 7 at 05:00:01 GMT/UTC The .BIZ registry will start accepting new "live" registrations on a first come, first served basis on this date. NeuLevel assures us that they are taking extra care to ensure our systems will support the early go-live demand. 2. Multilingual domain term extension ------------------- As previously announced, Verisign will be extending multilingual domain name registrations for six months; their are proceeding with a two phased implementation. Phase I: Thursday October 18th, 2001 Six months will be added to IDN registrations that were registered between November 9, 2000 through October 17, 2001. ** Verisign has advised us that this portion has been completed.** Phase II: Monday November 12, 2001 Six month will be added to IDN registrations that were registered between October 18, 2001 through November 9, 2001. Expect communications regarding multilingual domain name resolution in the near future. 3. .INFO sunrise domains at auction ------------------- Affilias has advised us that some .INFO sunrise domain names are being offered at auction. Afilias wants you to be aware of two aspects of these names that will be important to buyers and sellers. First, Sunrise names that may be up for auction are NOT CURRENTLY ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER as they are locked for up to 180 days following the close of the Sunrise period on August 31, 2001. Second, ALL Sunrise names are subject to challenge until December 26, 2001. Current Sunrise domain name registrants may lose ownership of the domain name as a result of a challenge proceeding, thereby rendering them unable to deliver the name being auctioned. Sunrise names are any .INFO names created before September 1, 2001 (check the "created on" date in the WHOIS at http://www.afilias.info. The challenge process, which may require the registrant to prove the name was eligible for Sunrise ownership, could result in the current registrant losing ownership of the name. Afilias intends to challenge a significant number of facially invalid Sunrise registrations at the end of the challenge period. Names created on or after September 1, 2001 are unaffected by Sunrise registration policies. Afilias strongly urges any parties interested in auctioning sunrise names to be aware of the special restrictions on these names. 4. Verisign bug fix ------------------- We are still working on an assessment and communications strategy to deal with the recent effects of a recent Verisign Registry bug fix. We apologize for the delay in communications; the issue is significantly complex. We have started contacting affected resellers and registrants, and will continue to do so. As always - thanks for your continued support of OpenSRS! Thanks - Ken Joy Product Manager, OpenSRS [EMAIL PROTECTED]
