I disagree here completely.   It did no such thing.

Actually, I was smart enough to not get involved in it.  When I read
the launch plans for .biz and .info, I posted to this list that there
was no way I was going to get involved in this, and that I would start
doing registrations in those TLDs once they moved into the only fair
part of the process, real time first come first served registrations.
I knew there would be problems, and I made a decision not to get
involved in it.

I posted then that I thought getting involved in this mess would be a
mistake.  So it's not that I was fortunate enough, just smart enough
to see the pitfalls.

I stand by my statement then and now, first come first served, no
sunrise or landrush preregistration periods, is the only fair method
of doing it.
