Deleted the domain from where? The WHois?
If the domain is only showing up in the crsnic/registry WHois then chances
are the domain is going to be deleted within the next five days.
Historically if they were going to hold onto domains for a long after the
expiration they would still publish their own Whois record for the domain.

Either way, letting a domain expire so that it can be re-registered ( by
the same registrant ) is not a recommended plan of action. There's no
guarantee they will get the domain back once it drops.
