I believe that you can get domain taken if the link to neulevel or affilias becomes 
not available during the registration process. That is, it was available for the 
lookup, but then problems occur at the final registration - you are then given an 
error message (wrongly I think) of domain taken - happened to me a couple of times as 
well with the ability to actually complete the registration later (even though it was 
supposedly taken)
