Agreed. But if there is sufficient demand, what's to stop us from starting our own list?
I too have often thought it would be beneficial, and dozens if not hundreds of us control our own mailservers. The only hurdle I can see would be validation of reseller status... though this could be accomplished by requiring a screenshot of the live-reseller system showing transactions and the email address for subscription to the list.
