I finally have retrieved the auth_info codes for all my .info domain names.
The only way I could get most of the registrars to provide them was to email
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and tell them about the problem.  This did get the results
I wanted.  In my opinion the problem is that the people handling support
requests at the registrars really don't know what an auth_info code is.

There are apparently other problems - all .info transfers I have tried so
far have timed out waiting for registry approval, yet still show up in the
Afilias whois database as "pending transfer".  I have a ticket open with
OpenSRS support on this problem, but have not gotten any response yet.

I would like to post a reply I got from register.com
after writing about 6 emails concerning a transfer.

They tell me that they are unbale to transfer any info or biz during the
next 5-6 weeks (!?) and that "we are unaware of any Transfer Codes."
(Register.com is unaware of any 'auth code'?). I had included twice
the corresponding parts of the ICAAN-Afilias contract in my emails.

Even worth is NameSecure.com. I have spent about $US 40.00 for
phone calls to them + fax + registered mail but I do not even get a
reply nor the 'auth code' for a transfer since 14th of Dec. 2001.

I have already lost an important client, who wanted to transfer ~ 50
domains from NameSecure to my reseller account but who retired
because I was unable to transfer his private info domain.

Anybody has the same problem? I am considdering to engage an advocat
concerning NameSecure.com. But because I am in Europe, I still hesitate
because of the costs. Anybody who would be interested to engage together
an advocat / sharing the costs concerning NameSecure.com?

In response to your email request to tranfer your domain names away from us.
At the time we are unable to accept a transfers of a .info or .biz domain
name from us or even to us.
The registries system and ours in not yet able to handle such Transfers.
Our estimated time that we will be able to complete transfers of .info and
or .biz domain names is approximatley 5-6 weeks.  We truly apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please read the information below as to how our Transfers usually work:

Our policy is that you contact the other Registrar in this case "Tucows"
they will initiate the transfer process and you will receive an email from
Register.com to confirm the transfer away from us.
Once you confirm the transfer away we will release the domain names to
Tucows.
We are not sure if the forms that you have are current or not but
we are unaware of any Transfer Codes.
