Well, that got a rousing response. I found the .us faq at OpenSRS, but it's unclear regarding the current and future status of locality based domains. Does "Currently, no new delegation requests will be accepted." just mean that no new Delegated Managers are being created, or does this also mean that all name registrations in the locality space are currently frozen?
The emphasis on the future of 'existing' .us domain names makes me wonder if they mean to cut off all further locality based name registrations. Jim ==================================================================== 7. What will happen to existing .US domain names? Existing .US registrants (domain name holders) within the "locality space" will retain rights to their existing Internet addresses. In fact, existing domain name holders will benefit from many of the operational improvements and improved security and service levels NeuStar will introduce within .US. 8. How will current Delegees (Delegated Managers) be affected? a.a.name r.r.name Delegated Managers will continue to play their existing role in the "locality space." Currently, no new delegation requests will be accepted. NeuStar will be requesting contact information from each of the existing Delegated Managers. Delegated Managers will be required to meet existing and new operational procedures designed to improve the overall operational efficiency and improve service to domain name holders within the locality space. ==================================================================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim McAtee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 31, 2002 10:03 AM Subject: Registering locality based .us domains > Would someone mind explaining the drill for registering locality based > domains under the .us TLD?
