Hi Bill,

Not so. Like the domains themselves, every one has a unique value. So this
type of service may be great at a variety of prices. I've seen bids at
namewinner.com over $10,000.

The real issue is that Verisign HAS NO BUSINESS WHAT-SO-EVER profiting from
their monolopy position. This is but a sale of influence. As to the value,
they expect $35 to watch something that sells for $6. How absurd is that? This
should only be done by Registrars -- competitively on the day of the drop!
Nobody should have a "shoe in."

Best, Loren

I also like the way the justify the $35 wholesale price by stating that
retails prices of $69 are already charged by snapnames. They forget to
mention that the "retail price" at snapnames had been $49 until just
recently. Hmm, I wonder why the price change at snapnames? Perhaps to
justify the wholesale price? Hmm...

Personally I don't see people willing to pay more the $10 retail for such
a service.
