Thanks for the posting George. It is interesting reading. Man, these guys are unbelievably arrogant.
They certainly believe that they do not need anyone's approval - including ICANNs - to institute this. They are going to run the trial for 12 months, which means 24 months of WLS reservations. If they only WLS 1,000,000 domains a year from the 4,000,000 or so projected to drop - not even counting speculators reserving names which will not drop - they will generate $35M a year, or $70M of revenue. Is there any doubt that the following metrics will be true as a result: "d) Under what metrics will the WLS test be considered a failure? o If costs exceed revenue or if the demand for the service is not sufficient to warrant continued investment, VGRS would have to reconsider offering the service." Sorry for the negativism. This monopoly needs to be severely limited and ICANN is not likely to do so. That is a shame. -t
