I have a client who's trying to transfer to us a site that's
currently hosted by QuickBooks (Intuit offers web hosting
as a service). The QB service is a "bundle" that includes
the domain name registration, hosting, email and so on.
Intuit handles the domain name registration (through eNom),
and automatically renews it for you as long as you're a
paid subscriber to the hosting service.
ANYWAY...
I found the following disclaimer in the customer area of
the QuickBooks website, and thought you folks might get a
kick out of it. Seems we're not the only one fighting against
Verisign's slimy tactics.
You may have recently received a letter or email from
Network Solutions, Inc. stating that your domain name
for your QuickBooks Site Solutions site requires renewal.
This is NOT the case.
Intuit automatically renews your domain name on your
behalf as long as you remain a paid subscriber to QuickBooks
Site Solutions. In addition, Intuit pays all fees necessary
to keep your domain name active. For details, see our

The communication from Network Solutions Inc. is simply a
solicitation by an unrelated third party, and was not
authorized or endorsed by Intuit. You need not respond to it.
In fact, if you do choose to switch your domain name
registration or web site hosting to another provider, such as
Network Solutions, Inc., you can no longer keep your QuickBooks
Site Solutions web site and service, and you will incur a
transfer fee.
