No, Chuck, we covered this yesterday when quicknet sent his message the first time. whois.crsnic.net will provide IP addresses for host names, and host names for IP addresses, but it will not provide the NSI host handle in Verisign Registrar's customer database. That's supposed to come from whois.networksolutions.com with the command line: $ whois -h whois.networksolutions.com "host ns.it.ca" The host handle is a string (/[A-Z]+[0-9]+-HST/) which is a unique key for that record in NSI's database. It can have its own maintainer (which itself is just a pointer to a contact handle), and historically has been used as the data source for the glue with which NSI pollutes the registry. The host handle is necessary if you want to get NetSol to email you a list of domains associated with a particular DNS server. NetSol will provide the information on the phone to anyone who claims to be the owner of the parent domain, but they've removed the lookup capability from their whois server, and currently still claim that it's an error that will be cleared up in the next few months. -- Paul Chvostek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Operations / Development / Abuse / Whatever vox: +1 416 598-0000 it.canada http://www.it.ca/
