i received a "renewal" letter too, from register.com a few days ago, for some of my
domains. but it was not nearly as deceptive as previous letters from Verisign. it
*was* titled (in large print) "Renewal Notice" and did begin, "Your domain names:
XXX.COM, YYY.com and ZZZ.com are due to expire beginning on YYYY-MM-DD" listing
several domains expiring in the next 90-120 days or so, but went on to say,
"to transfer your domain to Register.com, fill out the form below..."
        ^^^^^^^^
and ended with, "to secure your domains with Register.com today..."

so i wasn't as angered by this one as i have been with others i've received that were
much more deceptive, from Verisign and other smaller registrars (that i've never heard
of before).
