The auth-code has to be at "least" 8 digits.  However, we cannot find out
the auth-code until we are the sponsoring registrar (or we attempt a
transfer with it, and it seems that this code isn't working).

You will have to contact the current registrar and ask them to either
verify the auth-code, or change it to something you specify :)
