I would like to cover two topics on this post.

1) There is no way that a listing on the current referral list will increase
rankings in search engines. Google especially requires a stable link to your
site from our site. All listings in our referral program are generated in
real time from a database based on a click through. Therefore none listed
will enjoy this benefit.

In order to address this issue, about three months ago we launched the
"Authorized Reseller Button" which may be placed on your site. When a client
or visitor to your site sees this button, they may click on the button and
view a pop-up window that is served from our site showing your reseller URL
and optional logo stating that you are a reseller in good standing.

This service is free of charge and had been created based on the feedback
from resellers such as yourself requesting this verification process for
their clients through submitting requests to OpenSRS through the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] account management resource you may use at any time.

You may access this feature through the RWI at the bottom of your home page
for your account. In the bottom box, near all of the links for updating your
technical contact info etc...you will see a link called "Manage Authorized
Reseller Account"

Please feel free to use this service as you see fit, our stats have shown we
have almost 20% of our active resellers have signed up for this tool
already.

If you have feedback, questions, or comments on this tool please feel free
to email us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or contact your dedicated account manager.

2) Getting listed in the referral program. As far as those resellers that
are interested in being listed in the existing referral tool and feel they
qualify for the program, please send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for
review and inclusion. Although I have seen a number of posts to this discuss
list with resellers that feel they qualify, we have yet to receive a single
request into the sales email queue from a reseller. Unfortunately although
we watch the Discuss list, it is not designed for us to provide immediate
response to reseller comments or requests.

If you have any questions, would like to talk with an account manager, or
would like to find out who your account manager is please feel free to
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] or call 1-800-371-6992 Ext:2020 for immediate
response.

Subject: Re: Referral List

While we meet the criteria for inclusion in the referral list, it is more
important to us that there is a mechanism by which a prospect can verify the
partnership relationship with Tucows-OpenSRS.

There is no present mechanism for this that I am aware of. I propose that we
consider something similar to the following:

1. Create a database containing all resellers and fields where they can list
the services they provide, as well as a description of their company.

2. Allow the ability for a link on the reseller site to refer the visitor to
an opensrs official URL where the vistor can see that the queried domain is
a reseller in good standing with OpenSRS.

Here is an example of what CartIt Corp does.
Example: https://secure.cartit.com/smart/techstats.asp?im1.net

This link looks up our reseller profile and shows a prospect that we are a
partner in good standing with CartIt Corporation.

As a partner, we may log in to the cartit site and update our tech stats,
etc. We may place a link on our site and the user can see a valid link back
to the company site. If we cease to be in good standing, the link is
disabled.

Not the same as a referral, but this may satisfy some needs for other small
resellers like ourselves and should help improve sales for all of us,
regardless of size. This should also help OpenSRS in that they are not
publishing a complete client of resellers list on their site, yet all can be
found by a simple query.
