The Whois has been reverted back to displaying only the company name and postal address of the registered name holder. This change took effect at 11:20am EST.
An investigation into this problem revealed that in rectifying a recent bug, we inadvertently provided more data in the Whois than is required by ICANN. The long and short of it is that we clearly made a mistake. Tucows remains committed to protecting the privacy of Registrants and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Can someone from OpenSRS explain why the e-mail address and phone number were added? They are not required under ICANN policy: http://www.icann.org/announcements/advisory-10may02.htm Unless there is a new ICANN policy that requires this (in which case there should have been a big announcement about it), this is unacceptable. That's especially true in light of Ross's recent posts about his own domain WHOIS, which indicate that at least some people at OpenSRS know better. I assume it will be changed back to the previous format immediately... hint, hint... --------------------------------------------------------- "Go away... I'm all right." - Last words of H. G. Wells
