Using something for a purpose that distracts from and devalues its previous one -- the .net issue -- is totally different from finding a different purpose for a physical good.

It's more like saying it's OK for everyone to put "MD" after their name because it's cool, and a shingle in front of your house with "Joe Blow, MD" shouldn't be taken to indicate you're a medical doctor.
