I'm trying to write something that will be able to strip hostnames off FQDNs, and while I can deal with the gTLDs easily enough, I'm having some trouble dealing with ccTLDs whose subdomain policies I don't know. For example, for hosts like "linux.yugrusi.rt.ru" and "argo.bas.bg", is "rt" or "bas" a local language equivalent to "com" or "net"?
Can anybody point me at a collection of subdomain rules for ccTLDs? For example, (com|net) at 2nd level with (ar|au|br|hk|mx) etc. indicates that the domain name starts at the 3rd level, but it's (co|ne) for (jp|kr|uk). The .ca domain is a nasty evil collection of special cases. Anybody know of a repository of these rules?
