One of the items on my list of objectives for the year 2005 is:
"Increase communications with customers". Judging from the sudden
liveliness of discuss-list, it looks as I can mark that item as "done"!

But seriously, a quick comments in response to what I've seen so far:

The migration is about making things simpler.
---------------------------------------------

As Ross has mentioned earlier, we've got discussions for different
products in different places: some Majordomo mailing lists, some Lyris
mailing lists, some Phorum forums. What we want to do is simplify this
and bring all these discussions under one system, so that the way you
can talk with us is consistent, no matter which product(s) in our
platform you use.

We had the option of choosing one of the mailing list platforms or
Phorum and we chose Phorum. Why?

        - We've had very good experiences with it on our
          most active discussion, Blogware.General.
We believe that we can repeat this for our other discussions.

        - The archive format is much better that a mailing list's --
posts are grouped by topic, which is most helpful when searching
for useful information, such as a solution that's been
          discussed before.

        - Finally, the web-based interface makes it easy to keep up
with a discussion from any place that has a web browser and
          connection handy.

Personally speaking, I'm trying to *reduce* the number of mailing lists
to which I'm subscribed in favour of tracking things via RSS or using
good old Google to find archived information. Your mileage may vary.

Putting discussions under one roof is meant to simplify things for both
you and us. The idea is to have just *one* method for discussion,
reducing the number of places you have to check.

Keep that feedback coming, whether it be on the mailing lists, forums
or even via private email to me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). I *am* keeping
score.
